Mind Your Self is proud to provide quality mental health and wellness care to everyone in our community. Some groups stand out because they are more vulnerable than others, have unique challenges or needs, or are under-served in the San Antonio area. Our providers have the experience and training to deal with many of these concerns and look forward to working with you!
Veterans, Military Personnel, and their Families
Mind Your Self is grateful for our Veterans, Active Duty personnel, and their families for their service. Many of our providers are Veterans themselves, or spouses to Active Duty or Veterans that have served, and the practice is owned by a Gold Star wife, who herself comes from a four-generation military family. The majority of our providers have been specially trained in trauma therapies. We understand the variety of issues that are related to serving in the military, as well as those that can also impact family members.

The number of sessions may vary from person to person depending on their unique needs and situation.
Elder and Geriatric
One in four adults ages 65 and older experiences a mental health problem such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia or dementia, according to the American Psychological Association. And people 85 and older have the highest suicide rate of any age group, especially among older white males who have a suicide rate almost six times that of the general population, according to the National Council on Aging.
Mind Your Self is dedicated to helping everyone get the mental health care they need, whether it’s in our offices or in your home, we can help.
Individuals that have matured have both wisdom and life experience, but in past decades there has been (and often continues to be) a stigma surrounding mental health. The term itself often carries a negative connotation – but it’s important to remember that being depressed or anxious, especially as one grows older – is quite normal. Older people are often faced with barriers that younger individuals do not have – lack of mobility, transportation, stamina, medical equipment that makes travel difficult, confusion, and sometimes just simply an abundance of physical health problems.
Mind Your Self can help with treatment and recovery of many things, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Health-related issues
- Bereavement
- End of Life issues
- Transitions
- Anger management
- Isolation
- Suicidal thoughts
- More severe mental health diagnoses
