My name is Alana and I am a licensed clinical therapist here to help you work toward your goals. I want you to know that you are worth it, whatever ‘it’ may be to you. I work with adolescents, adults, families and seniors.
After graduating from Loyola University Chicago I joined the Peace Corps and served for 2 1/2 years in Cameroon. It was through this experience that I found my passion, helping people through listening, therapeutic methods and encouragement to be their best self. I specialized in helping those that felt most ostracized and least understood by society and this is a population that I continue to work with today. Coming back to the states I began to work with co-occurring disorders, substance use and mental health. I obtained my masters degree in Social Work from Florida Gulf Coast University working in hospitals, hospice and with traumatized teenagers. My work in Texas has continued helping those that are dealing with crises, ensuring that through empowerment, working together and reflection clients are able to accomplish realistic and manageable goals.
I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy, with solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing and family systems to help treat individuals and families. The therapeutic relationship is paramount and I believe in adjusting therapy to your specific needs whether you need challenges or or a sounding board. I look forward to supporting you through your personal journey.
