Hello, thank you for looking at my profile. My name is Alyssa Torres, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2016. I have a little over 10 years’ experience in the mental health field and have experience in other areas such as child development centers, daycares, shelters, and at-risk youth with a specialty in human trafficking. Other experience includes adults in the correctional system, probation, mental health and substance abuse units.
I love to empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles, teach skills to make healthier life choices and encourage positive change and growth. I specialize and am certified as a trauma therapist in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I use other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Other experience includes illness management and recovery, dysfunctional family dynamics, and safety/crisis intervention. My mental health experience has entailed working with Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar I and II, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.
I was born and raised in San Antonio. I am married, with one stepdaughter and a boxer dog named Kaia. I love dancing, the outdoors, wrestling, basketball, working on cars, cooking, arts and crafts, board games and painting my nails. Doing things I enjoy helps me cope with life stressors and gives me a sense of balance in life.
