Emily Perez is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Emily earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she now has a passion for continuing as an Adjunct Instructor of future Social Workers.
Emily’s approach to counseling is strength-focused, with an assortment of reliable interventions. Emily practices with intent to help her clients gain direction and clarity that she feels each client has the ability to access. Emily operates within the understanding that each individual is worthy of having a place where they feel safe and important, while visiting struggles and internal questions. Emily is experienced in individual, couple, family, and group therapy. Her professional background is diverse in working with populations such as adolescents, military families, children, LGBTQ, and parents, from diverse cultural backgrounds. Emily is skilled at assisting clients navigate through an array of struggles, including co-parenting, motivation, self-harm, behavior modification, divorce, grief, anger management, and mental health struggles (including but not limited to: Attention Deficit Disorder, depression, and anxiety).
The majority of Emily’s professional work has been counseling children and families within non-profit community agencies, here in San Antonio. Emily’s most recent counseling is with adolescents and families within a high school and middle school setting, as a school district employee. Emily has experienced insight into families navigating struggles of children with special needs, diversity in family structures, and unique individual and family struggles.
