When people experience severe life stressors or trauma, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. It is my passion to help people who have been through these types of painful life experiences. I assist my clients, who include children, adults, and families, to find compassionate and healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can perceive themselves as peaceful, complete and safe. My philosophy is that every individual possesses the innate ability to heal and that the therapist is a guide throughout the process of realization and self-empowerment.
I understand that no single modality is the right one for every individual, and so I offer a range of approaches including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reintegration Therapy (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Motivational Interviewing. My educational background includes a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama and Bachelor of Arts in English, also from the University of Alabama. My professional background encompasses providing clinical services to clients, acting as consultant and instructor in the area of integrating behavioral health into healthcare specialties, and teaching behavioral health diagnostic strategies to alcohol and substance use treatment practitioners.
My interests include writing, research, and the exploration of human potential through transformative integration of the physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects of self. It is my belief that human beings can thrive, not simply survive, life challenges and trauma to become stronger and more productive aspects of themselves following painful experiences.
