Laura is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) having received her Master’s in Social Work and Bachelors of Sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso. Laura has experience in the hospital setting working with children and parents experiencing grief (long-term illness, death, transitions). Laura also co-led a transgender support group for the youth in El Paso, Texas.
Laura’s professional interests include exploring major life changes or human experiences such as faith transitions, divorce, existential crisis, unresolved professional identity matters, immigration, maternal mental health care, drug use, among many other topics. Laura is inspired by humanistic approaches such as gestalt therapy and has goals to specialize in this area. To Laura, a humanistic approach in a session focuses on the relationship of the person and his environment, and how our ways to inhabit our worlds sometimes become fixed and in great need of a refresh to reach our most authentic selves. This method emphasizes the here-and-now, and explores, in a non-authoritarian empathic space, how and what is impacting our body and mind.
Laura welcomes ALL members of the LGBTQIA+ across the spectrum. She is happy to hold sessions in English or Spanish.
