Lori is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Teacher. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts.
Lori has been passionate about becoming a social worker since her high school days. As a student she realized it was critical for children and families to have access to compassionate, committed and effective counseling. She was raised in a military family and served as a military spouse and mother.
Since her graduation from UTSA, she has worked diligently in the field, gaining extensive experience with a variety of clients, including children, adolescents and adults She is trained in trauma informed care and takes an ecological approach to working with clients. Lori is a lifelong learner and has made the study of the human condition an imperative for herself and spends countless hours engaged in those studies, ensuring that she is prepared for virtually any situation. She understands how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), chronic and toxic stress contribute to the difficulties of coping with life’s challenges, relationships as well as physical and emotional unrest. She focuses on the interrelated areas of mental health, nutrition, and wellness and how each plays a part in allowing people achieve well-being in their lives.
She has combined these experiences with her professional training to offer caring and knowledgeable services to our city’s non-profit agencies, the public education system as well as military families. She is a compassionate, caring listener, and by her nature, can and has made connections with people from a wide variety of life-situations, assisting her clients to assess their situation and develop plans to improve their quality of life by developing effective coping skills.
